Georgie McMinn Counselling — a monarch butterfly resting on balanced stones in a calm zen garden

Building empowering relationships with yourself and others

I specialise in relationship and anxiety issues, with a particular interest in neurodivergent-affirming practices. My background is in Special Education.

"Self-compassion may be the single most powerful tool towards healing — and it is a cornerstone of the work I do."

Georgie McMinn

A counsellor who understands your world

I am a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming counsellor, experienced across a wide range of presenting issues. I work with both men and women, supporting people from all walks of life. Before training as a therapist, I had a career in Education and Special Educational Needs (SEN) — a background that deeply informs my patient, personalised approach to each person I work with.

I specialise in relationship breakdown, communication difficulties and co-dependence in relationships from an attachment perspective. I can help with anxiety including OCD and anything which feels like it is negatively affecting your life and self-esteem. I am also trained in infant loss and bereavement. Working creatively can positively support our work together, unlocking what words sometimes cannot. I offer this as an option.

I hold a Diploma in Higher Education in Counselling from Waverley Abbey College (2017), and I am accredited by the NCPS. I am a Bupa-recognised therapist, which means Bupa members may be able to use their health insurance to fund sessions.

I see clients in person in North Finchley, N12, and online via video or telephone.

Areas of specialisation

Relationship Breakdown

Separation, divorce, communication difficulties and marital issues. I help you work through the emotional and practical implications — and face the future with greater confidence.

Co-dependence & Attachment

Unhealthy relationship patterns often have roots in early experience. Using attachment theory and trauma-informed approaches, I help you understand and reshape those patterns.

Anxiety & OCD

Racing thoughts, panic and OCD can be exhausting. I help you understand the roots of your anxiety and develop practical self-regulation tools — including breathing techniques — to build a calmer internal life.

Faith & Wellbeing

For those whose faith is central to their identity, I offer a space where belief is welcomed and understood. Exploring life's difficulties through a lens of faith can be a profound source of healing, meaning and self-compassion.

"I want to help you find the freedom to be fully yourself."

Many Christians find it deeply helpful to have a counsellor who understands their worldview — someone they can speak to without fear of being misunderstood or judged for their faith.

If you and your faith are inextricably linked, then exploring your circumstances through a lens of faith may be the most significant thing you can do for yourself right now.
